Excellent Nordic Chemistry
The aim of this programe is to offer graduate students and postdocs excellent training in all aspects of organic synthesis, which is an initial and crucial step in many areas of modern science (including energy, materials science and medicine). The training offered will be competitive with that available in the US and Japan, and will provide the Nordic/Baltic industry with highly skilled PhDs who are prepared to address tomorrow's challanges.
The scientific part of this proposal aims to plan and execute synthesis of structurally diverse and complex products, with the goal of fostering a new generation of organic chemists that can initiate and lead research projects in both chemistry and related disciplines. The selection of network participants and associated partners is important for the successful outcome of the programme. This network brings together all the key areas of expertise needed in modern organic synthesis in order to provide a unique research training programme. The academic partners are selected so as to represent different and complementary aspects of organic synthesis and methodology development, exposing young researchers to the various partners in the network will provide an important breadth that is not available in the standard university curriculum. Clearly, the associated partners have several key roles in this network, making their contributions instrumental for reaching the overall goals.
By following the links on the left, you can learn more about the members of the Excellent Nordic Chemistry Network and the research that takes place in the network‘s labs, read about the Network meetings scheduled for 2010 and beyond, and learn about how we are using student exchanges to build research competences across the Nordic research area and encourage the sharing of best practice between labs. Requests for additional information can be made to the network coordinator or to individual network members.
